SmartSMS complies with all regulations on the protection of personal information specified in laws and regulations applicable to information and communication service providers. The personal information policy of the services of SmartSMS is as follows:


SmartSMS collects data important to operate effectively and provide best experience to our users.

  • A. Personal Details: In order to create a user profile, we may collect the information you provide during the sign-up process. You may register with Your e-mail ID and Phone Number. Additional information that You may be required to give during the sign-up process can include, but is not limited to, name, age, and gender. SmartSMS may supplement the information provided by You with information from third parties and add it to the information provided by You e.g. demographic information and additional contact information that is publicly available

    If you chose to SKIP registration (or Press YES on the pop-up for proceeding without registration), we will collect the device level information and your email id to create an identity for you.

  • B. Device Information: When You install and use the Services, SmartSMS will collect personal information from You. This information may include but is not limited to device ID or unique identifier; device manufacturer and type; device and hardware settings; SIM card usage; applications installed on your device; advertiser ID; operating system; operator; IMEI; usage statistics and default communication applications.

  • C. Information from SMS: WE DO NOT COLLECT OR STORE ANY PERSONAL SMS, ACCOUNT NUMBERS OR OTP MESSAGES (SMS/Messages that we understand as OTP messages). We may however collect non-personal SMS, in aggregated and anonymized way (i.e. without identifying you as a user), including but not limited to transactional SMS, like Movie Bookings, Flight Bookings, Train Bookings, Payments Made / Received, Policy Reminders, Mobile/DTH Recharge, Bill Payments, etc. for research & development purposes and giving you a better experience of the app, also in order to always show you the updated information.

  • D. User Preferences: Whenever you mark an SMS as Spam we will save this data for improving all future interactions with the App.


SmartSMS may use the personal information collected to provide, maintain, improve, analyse and personalize the Services to its Users. More specifically, SmartSMS may use such information to:

  • 1. Account creation: We use the information You provide to register You to use Our service and create an account on SmartSMS.

    • Mobile number and e-mail ID is used in assisting you in case of any account related queries raised by You and to communicate account related activities and custom notifications occasionally.
    • In case you choose to decline to submit your mobile number & email address information on the app during registration, we will not be able to provide all services on the app to you. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the same at the time of opening your account.
    • When you register with the SmartSMS Services, we may contact you from time to time about updating your personal information to provide you features that we believe may benefit / interest you.

  • 2. Provide A Great Personalized Experience on SmartSMS App:

    • Show reminders for the upcoming events like Movie Bookings, Upcoming Train/Flight travel, Bill Due Date, etc.
    • Show your updated balance after a transaction along with the list of transactions for easily tracking your money
    • Display coupons in way that makes it easily accessible for you.

  • 3. For Research & Development Purposes 

    • We use the information collected for the research & development purposes, to improve the experience on the mobile app and bring more features on our app.

  • 4. Analyse Statistical Data from Services:

    • We use aggregated or anonymized personal information for statistical and analytical purposes. We may come to share such data with third parties. We do not consider personal information to include information that has been made anonymous or aggregated so that it can no longer be used to identify a specific person, whether in combination with other information or otherwise.

  • 5. Personalized Advertising and Communication:

    • We may use any of the information collected, as set out above, to provide You with location and interest based advertising, marketing messaging, information and services. We may also use the collected information to measure the performance of our advertising and marketing services. We may contact You for verification purposes or with information pertaining to the Services or special offers, e.g. newsletter e-mails, SMS and similar notifications about SmartSMS and our business partners’ products and services. We also use the collected information to respond to you when you contact us.

  • 6. Prevention of Fraudulent Activities:

    • We may use the collected information to comply with applicable laws and to enforce our agreements and protect and defend the rights or safety of SmartSMS, its Users or any other person and verify provided User profile information with third party providers and ensure technical service functionality and data accuracy, perform trouble-shooting and prevent or detect fraud, security breaches or illegal activities.


We do not share your personal information with companies, organizations and individuals outside of SmartSMS & its partner companies unless one of the following circumstances applies:

  • 1. With your consent

    • When you give us the permission to do so, we will share device level information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of SmartSMS. When you agree to our Privacy Policy, you provide us consent to share your device level information (mainly used for analytics and marketing purpose). We do not share your personally identifiable information with any entity outside SmartSMS
  • 2. For external processing

    • We provide information to our affiliates or other trusted businesses or persons to process it for us, based on our instructions and in compliance with Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

    • We will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of SmartSMS & its partner companies due to various legal reasons
      1. Meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request.
      2. Enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations.
      3. Detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues.
      4. Protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of SmartSMS & its partner companies, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

We may share non-personally identifiable information with our partners like publishers, advertisers or connected sites. For example, we may share information publicly to show trends about the general use of our services.

Personally identifiable information may be transferred as an asset in connection with a merger or sale (including any transfers made as part of an insolvency or bankruptcy proceeding) involving all or part of our business or as part of a corporate reorganization, stock sale, or other change in control. Your visit and any dispute over privacy are subject to this policy and our terms and conditions, including limitations on damages.

The information that we collect, including information obtained from third parties, is shared with our affiliates, meaning other companies owned, controlled or are in partnership with SmartSMS.


SmartSMS Site/ App may include links to other websites or apps. Such sites are governed by their respective privacy policies, which are beyond our control. Once you click on those links, use of any information you provide is governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the site you are visiting. That policy may differ from ours. We are not responsible for the content and behaviour of third party's websites, while you visit them. If you can't find the privacy policy of any of these sites via a link from the site's homepage, you should contact the site directly for more information.

Any information you provide directly to a third party merchant; website or application is not covered by this privacy notice. We are not responsible for the privacy or damage caused to you or security practices of merchants or other third parties with whom you choose to share your personal information directly. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party to whom you choose to share your personal information directly.


Once your information is in our possession we adhere to strict security guidelines, protecting it against unauthorized access, however we do not take responsibility for any damage due to unauthorised use or access to your personal information by your own fault or failure in protecting your personal information.


The GDPR takes effect on May 25, 2018, and is intended to protect the data of European Union (EU) citizens.

Please note that usage of SmartSMS App is limited to users within India only. Only users with valid & active Indian mobile number should download and install this app, as registration on the app requires the same and you can not register with a mobile number that does not belong to India. You should not use our app outside India.

Do not access or use our Services by any means or technology which conceals your actual geo-location or is unable to provide accurate details of the location.

As part of our efforts to provide you better access and control over the information which we collect and process about you, we require you to download and use the latest version of the App (app version or above).

If you continue to use an older version of the App, we would not be responsible or liable for collection, storage and processing of your information. You are required to update to the most current version of the App.
